Chinese New Year 2022
This month at Working Together we have been enjoying watching the Winter Olympics and finding out about the Chinese New Year. Which, this year, is the Year of the Tiger.
We’ve been making dragon masks and serving some Chinese food in our café.
Thank you Jan…
In January we said a very BIG thank you to Jan.
Jan has been a member of staff here at Working Together for 10 years – which think is a fantastic achievement!
To celebrate this we had a party lunch and Jan was the guest of honour.
Daniel sang ‘for she’s a jolly good fellow’ and everyone joined in.
Thank you Jan.
Our Burns Night Celebrations…
At Working Together we’ve been thinking about Burns Night.
Burns Night is a traditional Scottish celebration that falls on the birthday of the famous poet Robbie Burns.
Burns night was lots of fun at Youth Club as we leapt over the border to Scotland!
We learnt about the infamous loch Ness monster, the famous poet Robert Burns and tried some Scottish food.
Getting together to share food is an important part of the Burns night celebrations and we tried Haggis, iron bru and shortbread with a cup of tea.
Arthur tried his first cup of tea, he thought it was quite nice and Max made us all laugh with his brilliant Scottish accent.
We finished the evening having a dance off and trying the Highland fling whilst wearing a kilt!
We celebrated Burns Night during the day too – we made a vegetarian Haggis meal and sang Auld lang syne.
Nigel and James both got into the Scottish sprit and wore kilts!
Writers’ Club also put on a Scottish themed display and listened to some traditional bagpipe music.
We’re excited to learn that Sarah – who many of you will know from Writers’ Club – is running in this year’s Edinburgh Marathon and will be raising money for working Together on her way round.
