Almost Weekly News No. 43 – 02/08/2021
At Working Together we’ve been following the Tokyo Olympic Games.
Members have been making a display and researching Olympic history.
We found out that in 1850, Dr William Penny Brookes, started an Olympic Games in Much Wenlock where he lived. A French man, Baron de Coubertin, saw the Wenlock Games when he came to visit Dr Brookes. He then went home and organised the first modern Olympic Games in Athens in 1896.
Over the next few weeks we will be watching some of the events, cooking Japanese food, having a go at shūji (Japanese calligraphy) and holding our very own alternative mini Olympics!
We also discovered that in the Wenlock Olympics, winners received a bag of tea instead of a gold medal – time to put the kettle on then…
Mable pays a visit…
Molly the dog payed a visit to Youth Club last week, helping members learn about learned being a responsible dog owner.
Well, this week, Mable paid a visit to catch-up with the other members of Youth club too.
Mable demolished her snacks in a record 0.3 seconds!

Ludlow Festival Fringe Snail Trail
Members have been working hard making clay snails to be part of Ludlow Fringe Snail trail. Working Together’s snails have been on display in the window at Ludlow Library and at Rockspring too. Well done everyone…
Nicola B Zooms in…
We all had a lovely surprise recently when Nicola B joined us on Zoom from her new house in France.
We’re hoping that Nicola will be able to start running her Zoom yoga sessions again soon. It was just great to see her and learn all about the village where she now lives and the snake that lives upstairs in their house!
Thanks Nicola and we are all looking forward to the yoga sessions starting again soon…
Badge making…
We’ve been making badges and Thomas has made a Three Lions badge to support the 3 English football players who missed their penalties in the Euro 2020 final against Italy. Well done Thomas.
