A LITTLE BIT OF WT HISTORY…
An article in the Ludlow Advertiser, written in January 2003, wrote about a dedicated group of parents, carers and professionals who had banded together to form a group ‘keen to bring work experience, social and learning skills into the day to day lives of people with learning disabilities’.
The article went on to say that ‘founded by Richard and Susan Geuter, former owners of the Olive Branch restaurant in Ludlow, Working Together, in Fish Steet, is firmly rooted in the community and dedicated to a high level of local integration’.
The Working Together Café had been born and from these foundations came our Youth Club, Diversity, Writers’, Sewing Bee and Sports Club, as well as a range of other activities over the years such as the Diners Club.
The café operated from Fish Street for many years following Working Together’s guiding principles that still shape what we do today.
In 2019, having outgrown the Fish Street premises, Working Together moved to our new home at the Rockspring Community Centre.
The move has allowed Working Together to grow its membership and offer more day opportunities, after school and evening clubs.
Like everything, Covid has disrupted the last two years but as guidelines and restrictions begin to relax, our involvement with the Food Bank, community lunches, community garden and Ludlow festivals all provide new and exciting opportunities for Working Together members to learn and develop their skills and to enjoy new opportunities firmly rooted in, and playing an active role within, the local community.
WT Garden Party
As this year is our 20th anniversary, we’re holding a very special ‘Garden Party’ to celebrate on 24th September 2022.
The afternoon event will include cream teas, famous Working Together cakes, fun, games, entertainment, music and a chance to see how work is progressing on our new Friendship Garden.
So don’t forget to save the date. Everyone welcome!
