Simon’s Plant Sale

Plant Sale

Huge thank you to Simon for having a plant sale at his garden gate to raise funds for Working Together.

Simon has recently started a supported work placement with Acton Scott farm and has also sent us a picture of some piglets he helped to birth on his 2nd day!

WOW… that’s incredible and thank you again for supporting Working Together Simon.

Please keep sending in your stories – we love reading them.

Garden Helpers Wanted…

Community Garden

It’s been hard work in the community garden over the last few weeks and the vegetable beds are really beginning to spring back into life.

But there’s still loads of work to do and not as many of the community gardeners have been able to return to help with gardening this year because of covid-19. So we are looking for a few willing volunteers to come in one weekend and help us do a bit of a tidy up around the garden.

So, if you’ve got a few hours to spare one Saturday, why not pop in and give us a hand?

For more information email: manager@workingtogtherludlow.co.uk

It’s all Covid safe and tools, tea, coffee, cake and rhubarb will all  provided!

My Trip to Dollywood by Steph

On the 10th of September 2019, I went to Dollywood, Tennessee with my stepbrothers, Graeme and Ade and their friend, Ali.

Dolly Parton’s Life

Dolly Parton was raised in small, unheated shacks and cabins without indoor plumbing, electricity or running water.

Dolly Parton was born on the 19th January 1946 in a one-room cabin on the banks of the Little Pigeon River in Pittman Center, Tennessee.

Dolly Parton is one of twelve children. When Dolly was a small girl, the family moved from the Pittman Centre area to a farm up on nearby Locust Ridge.

Most of Dolly’s memories of youth happened there. The farm and surrounding woodland inspired her to write the song ‘My Tennessee Mountain Home’ in the 1970s. Music played an important role in her
early life.

Dollywood Theme Park

Dollywood is an amusement park, located in the Knoxville Smoky Mountain Metroplex in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The park hosts a number of concerts and musical events each year, including appearances by Dolly Parton and her family.

Shropshire Youth Forum – Have Your Say…

youth forum

Shropshire Youth Forum have asked us to share details of the following consultation…

Young people telling it like it is

“Are you under 25 or do you know any young people aged 8-25 years?

South Shropshire Youth Network is interested in what young people find important and then helping to make it happen.

We’re talking to young people in the streets and running a 5 minute no strings attached
survey:
HERE

We’ll follow that up with focus groups to find out more. The outcomes will be presented at the online Youth Conference events 28 June – 10 July.”

Rhubarb and even more rhubarb….

One of the early crops from the community garden has been the rhubarb!

Members have been collecting it, chopping it up and we’ve been freezing it for crumbles and chutney making – yum, yum!

Some of it has also been shared with Hands Together Ludlow for their community meals.
